The partnership between Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez has led to many believing that Liverpool have certainly found the Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish replacements for this decade. Liverpool have had several astounding striker partnerships over the years, but Suarez and Sturridge have been at their brilliant best for almost a season now. They have been playing together only since January last year, but Brendan Rodgers himself has said that he is amazed by the telepathy that they have shown on the pitch. There have been causes for concern this season, as both have been involved in feisty talk on the pitch.
Sturridge, though, has said that people should not give too much concern to the emotions on the pitch, while he also thinks that this fiery relationship is the reason for both strikers doing well. Suarez is currently top of the Premier league goalscoring charts with 25 goals, while Sturridge is not far behind with 18. The duo have helped Liverpool go second in the table with only nine matches remaining. Even though Manchester City were the team to outscore in the first half of the season, Liverpool have been consistent in this regard throughout the campaign. They have scored 76 goals so far and could just beat Chelsea’s record of 103 goals.
“I’m demanding. Stevie’s demanding. Everyone’s demanding. It’s not just Luis that’s demanding of the players. The manager’s very demanding of the players. It’s important that everyone’s demanding if you want to be successful and everyone’s pushing each other to get the best out of each other, and that’s what we all try to do. I think we combine very well. He’s someone who wants to win, and I want to win, we both enjoy to score goals,” said Sturridge about the partnership with Uruguay’s Suarez at Liverpool.
