Liverpool’s January signing Daniel Sturridge has said that his main aim this season is to help the striker Luis Suarez win the Golden Boot award. Liverpool recently paid £ 12 million to secure the signature of the Chelsea striker in the January transfer window. He has made an instant impact at the club. He was not known for his goal scoring abilities while he was a Chelsea player, but the decision by the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to utilise him alongside Luis Suarez has paid rich dividends. The striker has managed to score four goals in his five appearances for Liverpool.
His partnership with Suarez has also been extremely commendable in the last few matches. Sturridge was one of the main reasons for Liverpool coming out of the tough match against Manchester city with a draw. Suarez has 18 goals in his 26 appearances for Liverpool this season. It is finally going to be the season when he has replicated the form from Ajax. Suarez is currently competing against the Manchester United striker Robin van Persie for the Golden Boot award. Sturridge has said that he will do everything at his powers to help the Uruguay striker lift this award. Liverpool are currently seventh in the Premier league table despite the goals from Suarez.
“Luis will be gunning for that and I don’t see why he shouldn’t finish top. There are 11 games left and I’ll try and help him get there. It’s always good to get individual glories as a player as they are the things you can look back on and tell your grandchildren you were top scorer that season. Stevie was very nice to let me have the penalty. I guess he knew my pain and thought he would be kind to me,” said Sturridge after the 5-0 win over Swansea.
