Cesc Fabregas played a substantial role in Barcelona’s success in the last five years. The Spaniard recently returned back to the Premier league but with Chelsea.
His return back to England turned out to be a happy affair after claiming his first English league title in the first season. The 28-year-old, though, has one regret in his Barcelona career and it was that he was unable to play with Luis Suarez. The Catalan club signed the Uruguayan striker last summer for a transfer fee of £ 75 million. He moved to the camp Nou at a time when Fabregas was going the other way.
After a difficult start to his life at Barcelona, Suarez has quickly shown why he is regarded as one of the best in the business. He helped the Catalan club lift an array of trophies in the last 18 months, while they have been able to do away with the absence of Messi quite easily. Much was feared for Barcelona’s form when it was revealed that Messi will be out for a couple of months. However, Suarez’goals have been sufficient to help Barcelona establish a six-point advantage in la Liga while also going to the top of the table in the Champions League.
Fabregas claims that it would have been great to have played with Suarez. “Barcelona have fantastic players. The three in attack decide matches, even though the best of them all is missing at the moment – and that’s Leo Messi. But Neymar has taken a step forward and Luis Suarez is… I wish I had played with him at Barcelona because he is a striker with whom I would have had a phenomenal understanding. The rest, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and also the defence, which is practically the same [as when I was there], they have a very high level,” said Fabregas.
