Luis Suarez, the former Liverpool striker shared a message of support for his old team as they faced Everton in the Mersey side derby. He spent 3 ½ years at Anfield, scoring 82 goals in only 133 appearances for the Reds. Suarez had a part of the winning side of the League Cup in 2012 and finished as the top scorer in the Premier League in the 2013-2014 season the Brendan Rodgers’ club finished second.
He left Liverpool for Barcelona after the campaign, securing a win in the Champions League in the first season at Camp Nou. Since then, he made many moves and the most recent ones took him to Gremio in Brazil. However, he still appears to have a soft corner for his Premier League side.
Suarez motivated Liverpool FC on his Instagram story and added the letters YNWA and the caption had been shared with his photo on the TV screen, showing his determination to watch the Reds in action. As the former frontman watched on, finally Liverpool ended their wait for the first victory in the Premier League victory of 2023. The deadlock was broken by Mohamed Salah against Everton, while Cody Gakpo scored his first goal for the club by making his points safe.
The outcome lifted the team of Jurgen Klopp above Chelsea into 9th, while leaving their opponents in the bottom three. Liverpool is 9 points adrift of the top 4, though they take on the 4th place, Newcastle United in their upcoming league game. The game was an important one for Gakpo, who had grappled to hit top form since his move in January from PSV Eindhoven. His goal was not the toughest he is going to score- in at the far post when Trent Alexander-Arnold played from the right in a low cross, but it was a beautiful sight for a player who looked forward to starting his Anfield career.
