Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has spoken glowingly of his former club Liverpool.
The Uruguayan left Anfield amid controversy in a big money move to the Nou Camp in 2015. The former Ajax striker says he never imagined that he would play for the Reds, adding that it was a dream come true and a stepping stone to great things in his career.
Suarez was a real sensation in the Netherlands so Liverpool brought him to England. His 31 goals in 2014 almost gave Liverpool a Premier League title until a small slip gifted another team the title. In his three and a half year with Liverpool, Suarez netted 82 times in 133 games.
“When I was little, Liverpool was one of the biggest clubs in Europe and was renowned throughout the world. So when I found out about the club’s interest in me I was never in doubt because it’s the dream for any player; I never imagined that I would get the chance to play there,” Suarez said.
The player then proceeded to praise the fans at Anfield. He said the fans would always support the team come what may.
“The affection that they show to you is just so special, which in turn makes you lift up your head and respond rather than letting it drop a little. For me, this is just what the Liverpool fans have,” the Champions League winner added.
On the current head coach of Liverpool, Suarez said he was a quality option. He said Jurgen Klopp needed time after he moved to the club to replace Brendan Rodgers. He says Kloop would do better in the forthcoming season as he knew the player better and had several of them that can make a difference.
